Venue for Sweet 16!

An amazing venue for a Sweet 16!

I was very surprised when I was visiting Jaime Blinson from Mesa Arts Center when she told me about the opportunity to rent out the Museum.  I am always looking for new locations to hold an event and the rooftop on the Museum  would be a perfect site for a Sweet16 or a teen event.  The ideal party size would be 75-100 people.  It has over head lighting but if you add some uplighting then add  a customize light,  it would be one amazing Party!

Simple but Elegant!

The other awesome feature is that when you need a break from dancing, you can wonder through the Museum.  It is a has a lot of great exhibits, and is an amazing deal.

Outdoor rooftop dinner!

The scenery is great!  Trust me you need to contact Jaime and talk about booking the rooftop for your next teen event.

After you have contacted Jaime,  email me, Jeremy from 1st Dance Entertainment - the teen expert, for your rockstar Sweet 16 event!  .  We will create an event that all the teens will talk about!

Phoenix Sweet16 DJ: Top 5 tips

Creating an Epic Sweet16

1. Make it Formal!

When a person dresses up, it communicates the importance.
Both teens and adults enjoy getting dressed up for speical occasions and making it a formal
event communicates the importance of the Sweet 16

2. Prepare your guests!

Guests do not always know what to do, so they need
someo instructions. An invitation is a great to achieve your goal. It can state the particulars
about the event and the expected dress for the event. Remember no one wants to feel out of
place so communicate with your guests your expectations are, including: the time of the event,
location, and at time you need the guests to be prepared to great the Guest of Honor. Here is
an example of information to include on a invitation:
Sarah's Sweet 16
Masquarade Party!
(Sarah will arrive at 5:50pm so everyone needs to be in position)
Dreess to impress (Guys Slacks/Collar shirt/Tie/ Girls formal Dress)
Remember to wear a decorated mask!

3. Use a theme:

Themes set the tone for the party and assist with the decorations.
It creates the vision for your party. In addition your venders, especially your DJ may be able
to help with the theme if you give him/her enough notice.

4. Include a couple of Sweet 16 Traditions.

Sweet 16 is a moment oftransition and it is important to include some of the traditions. Pick the ones that best fit your
personality and your family wishes. Discuss this with your teenager and parent, and come to
a group decission. The tradition of lighting 16 candles and naming people you are greatful
for is a great way to acknowledge the people who have helped you along the way.

5. Dance with your Father/Step-Father

Sweet 16 is celebration with your family and friends. You should not ignore your family (considering they are probably paying the bill) A nice touch is a dance with your father even if the relationship has been strained. For some daughters it is a chance to reconnect with their father

Phoenix Sweet 16:

The Overview of a Sweet 16

The challenge with Sweet 16 is that sometimes people don't know where to start.  My hope is that this blog will give you a starting point.  Of course, if you have questions or if you just need someone to bounce ideas off of, please contact me.

Planning an #epicsweet16 takes work, coordination and planning.  I look forward to working together with you to ensure that your daughter has a special, unforgettable, #EpicSweet16.  I've created five questions/comments for you to consider when creating the overview of your event.

Questions to help you get Started with your Sweet16

1. What is the date of the Sweet 16?

The first thing you need to do is to pick the date!  I actually suggest picking three different dates as possibilities.  Take a look at both your personal calendar and the school's calendar!  Epic Sweet 16 parties are great events, and you'll want all your friends and family to attend, so it's important to not schedule your special day on the same day as homecoming.  It's tradition to have a Sweet 16 up to 365 days after your Birthday.

  2. What Weather can you expect for your Sweet 16?

When planning an outside Sweet 16, it is essential to keep the weather in mind!  Arizona has very hot summers which can last through October! Just because the  sun goes down, doesn't mean it will be cool.  Remember, if you hire a DJ or a band, all electronics may be damaged by excessive heat!  It's not a bad idea to check the average weather for that 30 days.

If you're planning your event in the winter, I recommend someplace warm and dry.  Your guests will thank you!

3. Who is invited to your Sweet 16?

The Sweet 16 is always a mix of friends and family of all different ages.  I recommend inviting some of the adults that you have known for a while, such as your relatives and family friends.  This makes it fun for everyone!

How many should be invited?  I recommend at least 75 people, but no more than 200.  Numbers should be discussed and agreed upon between you and your teen.  This is also important when looking at venues and food, as well as ensuring that you have adequate space for the event.

4.  Vender for the Sweet 16:

The location of the Sweet 16 and facilities is key for a great party!  The location should be comfortable and convenient for both you and your guests.  An excellent location supplies adequate space for meals, DJ/Entertainment, photography, and social gathering.

5  How long is the event?

A typical Sweet 16 is about 4 to 5 hours.   The event begins with the gathering of the guests who wait for the anticipated arrival of the Guest of Honor and concludes with the final dance.  Here is a sample schedule:

5:00pm Gathering of Guests
5:45pm  Grand Entrance
5:50pm  Father/Daughter Dance
5:55pm Food is served.
6:00pm Photo booth opens.
6:00pm Dance Begins
8:00pm  Parent(s) Speech
