Planning your Sweet 16-- From Scratch!

I just received a call from a parent about planning a Sweet 16.  The only problem is that she wants to host it is in five days!  I recommended holding the party in a month to give us some time to plan the event!

It is important to remember that there is no rule stating that you have to have it on the person's Birthday or even on that weekend.  Therefore plan a week that would work best for you.  If your child birthday is in the middle of finals, wait till finals are over.

Then find a location to host the event!  While your backyard might be the cheapest route, it is not always the best value!
Keep in mind:
  • Setup & Clean up?
  • Neighbors:  Are they OK with you having a party?
  • Food:  Will you organize catering?
  • Room:  How much space do you have?  Is there an area for eating?  Is there room to dance?
The next task is find a Sweet 16 expert!  The person will help you with invitations, Theme, Entertainment, and planning of the event!

While it is possible to not have a theme, I highly recommend having one.  There are a couple of reasons:
1.  It sets the mood  for the night.
2.  It gives the guests instructions for how to dress for the night.
3.   The theme creates an amazing ambiance for the event.
4.  DJs are able to help support the theme with lighting

If you need ideas for a theme check out Phoenix Sweet 16dj

Final decisions:
1.   Send out invitations with start and end time!
2.  Book all the venues/ vender's
3.  Organize food/ hire caters.
